The Ministry of Skill Development and entrepreneurship has decided to extend the enrollments under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) in the north-eastern region by two months. The scheme which is centrally sponsored will came to an end on 31st March.
The ministry in a statement said, “”In view of the recent lockdown due to COVID-19 crisis, MSDE, after examining the whole scenarios has decided that the last date of enrollment of candidates under centrally sponsored Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 2016-20 to May 31 only for north-eastern region.”
The statement added, “”It will remain March 31, 2020 for non-NER states”
The ministry has advised that all states shall resume training and orientation within 30 days as the lockdown is removed and to be completed by 31st August 2020 and all the assessments and certifications shall be carried out by 15th September 2020.
The scheme is aimed at training unskilled workforce with hands-on skills to ensure they can be employed with SMEs and MSME sectors and industries.
