To meet this ambitious number the state government is looking to provide loan to new MSME units and helping existing units to expand and emerge out of the Covid-19 downturn
State’s Additional Chief Secretary (MSME), Navneet Sehgal, while addressing an event at Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University in Ayodhya last week on Thursday said, “The MSME sector will become the growth engine for jobs and self-employment and in turn provide a boost to the economy.”
He added, “By March 2021 the government will be giving loans to 20 lakh MSME units through which the employment for one crore people can be generated. Every man is an entrepreneur. People should stop thinking that any work is small. If a person has ideas, training, and capital, then anyone can start a business.”
Sehgal explained that the state government has been providing loans on easy terms to entrepreneurs and if they (MSMEs) approach the government with feasible ideas they could be given easy loans.
Rupinder Brar, Additional Director General of Ministry of Tourism, said the tourism sector has a lot of potential to generate employment, once the Covid-19 pandemic subdues or gets over various ongoing projects being implemented by the state government would complete and the capacity will be augmented.
Ravi Shankar Singh, Vice-chancellor of Avadh University laid stress on the need for financial literacy. According to him financial literacy is a new type of educational revolution and Uttar Pradesh needs to move in this direction.
